I was thinking today about HUMP, the Santa Monica sushi restaurant that was busted for serving whale meat to undercover activists. You know, after a couple weeks of legal wrangling, they've apologized and actually closed down voluntarily. Good for them.
So when you go to a sushi restaurant how do you order and eat responsibly? How do you avoid fish that is caught or farmed in ways that harm other marine life or the environment?
Turns out the Monterey Bay Aquarium has the answer, which is a recently published, handy pocket guide. For convenience sake, I've made it available right here on this blog. You can find the Pocket Sushi Guide in the right hand column under "FREE DOWNLOADS."
Just download, cut along the outer black lines, and fold on the gray lines and you'll have a handy guide that fits in your purse or wallet.
And next time your at a sushi restaurant, do order the Suzuki but not the ebi.
Also, while your at it please notice all the other free downloads, including "Best Fish to Eat."
